Ecotourism
Ecotourism is tourism in exciting, exotic, often threatened places. I think the difference between tourism and ecotourism is where it is at and how the enviroment is. If you are going around Spain and looking at buildings, that is tourism. But if you are going through the Amazon, then I believe that is Ecotourism. Looking at buildings or monuments are not really threatening. But if you are in a jungle or on a crazy river, there could be some threats. Ecotourism is WAY BETTER than tourism because you take more risks. But you will see a lot more crazy/cool things that are exciting.
1. Coasta Rica- No other country has embraced Ecotourism as much as Coasta Rica. "Costa Rica is the most biodiverse country on Earth," said Glenn Jampol, who owns two hotels in Costa Rica and serves as president of the Costa Rican chapter of the National Association of Ecotourism. Fortunately, Costa Rica has established 24 national parks, which span over 21 percent of the country’s land, to protect these species from possible extinction. Visitors can get up close and personal with many of these species while exploring the country’s national parks, rain forests, beaches and volcanoes.

2. Kenya- Kenya has passed much larger countries by having clean energy. A lot of Kenya's population don't have hot stoves. So they use firewood. All of that firewood comes from forests. The smoke produced by the wood is the fourth leading cause of death and disease in the world’s poorest countries. The organization teaches local Kenyan women how to make briquettes, which perform the same types of function as firewood and can be made by using recyclable materials.

3. Thailand- Thailand didn’t begin as an extremely eco-friendly destination when it first became a tourism hotspot. Over the years the country that was once famous for logging and the unnecessary killing of animals for profit has turned over. “Thailand...really lost much of its draw as an eco-destination due to the uncontrolled development in the most attractive areas and its growing problems with conservation,” said Jampol. Today, however, the country shows numerous eco resorts that are not onlyconstructed out of natural materials, such as bamboo, straw and palm, but are situated alongside Thailand’s nice forests, beaches, plantations and rivers, which allows tourists to appreciate and enjoy the beauty of these lands.

I believe ecotourism started because people wanted to interact with their enviroment. All of these places would be a great place to visit. Ecotourism is better than just regular touring a city or place, because it is more exciting. You do things that could be scary to some people, but others might love it. Touring just a city or place can also be boring sometimes. When your ecotouring, you could say 'your on an adventure.' Like in a forest, going down ziplines would be fun! But scary to some people. Ecotourism has made a difference by helping people get out more. If people can go out and adventure places like Kenya, you can do a lot more fun things. It also helps regions by attracting more people. More people= more money, but people need to stop being greety. We can interact with our enviroment, but we need to respect it.
